The president-elect of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, visited the FAES headquarters today, where he had a meeting with President José María Aznar, who encouraged him to implement his agenda of reform measures and transferred his support to his Central American integration project, a region where more than 50 million people live.
Giammattei, who will take office next January after a long transition of six months since his electoral victory, will lead a very polarized country with great interference from Venezuela and Nicaragua. He has set his priorities on improving public security, fighting corruption and reducing the size of the state.
Several members of his next government team attended his meeting with José María Aznar. On behalf of FAES, the director of International, José Herrera, and Miguel Marín, from the Economics area, did so.
